One conversation of around 45 minutes about how you experience software work. No script, no right answers.

What it looks like
One remote interview over video call, around 45 minutes. A short pre-survey beforehand covers basics like years of experience and the kind of work you do, so we don't spend interview time on them.
The interview is a conversation, not a questionnaire. We ask open questions and follow what matters to you. With your consent, we record the call to transcribe it later. Skip any question, pause, or stop at any time — no reason needed.
Who we're looking for
Professional software developers — employed, self-employed, or between jobs. Any stack, any seniority, anywhere. Especially glad to hear from people who don't usually get asked about their work.
No prep needed. No strong opinions or clean narrative required. Ordinary days are often the most useful.
What we can and can't offer
A careful listener, a written consent process, and the commitments on our ethics page: informed consent, the right to withdraw, anonymization before publication, and no commercial use of what you share.
No compensation. We're two people doing this out of curiosity, without institutional funding. If that makes it the wrong time, we understand.
How to get in touch
A sentence or two to hello@leselab.org is enough. We'll reply with the pre-survey and a booking link.
